On the ocassion of Ram Temple Pran Pratishtha ceremony in Ayodhya, several states have declared a public holiday on Monday, January 22. However, several states have followed the central government and declared a half-day for government institutions and schools on Monday for the celebration of Ram temple consecration. 

Amid separate announcement by the state governments, there has been a confusion among people about whether there is a school holiday or not in their state. Here is the full list of state government’s that have declared a school holiday tomorrow. 

Uttar Pradesh

All schools and other educational institutions will remain closed on January 22 in Uttar Pradesh as per the directions laid out by UP CM Yogi Adityanath. In addition to schools, all liquor shops will also remain shut throughout the state tomorrow.

Madhya Pradesh

Chief Minister Mohan Yadav has declared a school holiday, encouraging people to celebrate the day like a festival. A dry day has also been announced, closing all types of shops, including liquor and Bhang outlets. All government offices and institutions in Madhya Pradesh will remain closed for half a day on January 22 to celebrate the consecration of Ram temple in Ayodhya, officials said on Friday. The state government issued a notification late on Thursday night regarding the closure of offices till 2.30 pm on January 22, they said.


The Goa government has declared a holiday for government employees and schools on January 22 in light of the ‘pran pratishtha’ ceremony at the Ram Janmabhoomi Temple in Ayodhya.


The Haryana government has announced the closure of schools on January 22 given the Ram Temple Inauguration. Liquor consumption will not be permitted anywhere in the state on the day of the consecration ceremony.


Following the steps of other steps and the central government, Puducherry Chief Minister N Rangasamy on Friday announced that January 22 would be a public holiday in the Union Territory because of the consecration of Ram Mandir at Ayodhya scheduled on that day.
